Understand item crafting; Infusion, Rarity Tiers, Item Quality and Affixes

How Crafting Works
Item crafting in Idle Adventure is handled by the Snail NPC. The crafting system lets you create equipment with random Quality, Rarity, and Affixes based on both investment and luck.
Crafting Process
- Access the Crafting Screen: Visit the Snail NPC and open the craft screen to browse available items
- Set Voxel Infusion: Optionally use Voxels to improve Rarity odds
- Craft the Item: Pay the costs and receive your randomized equipment
After crafting, your item will have:
- Random Rarity Tier (Broken to Artifact) based on Voxel infusion
- Random Affixes (0-3 bonus stats) based on Rarity Tier
- Quality roll that affects the item's base stats via the Quality multiplier
Crafting Costs
Item crafting requires two currencies: Pixels and Voxels. The cost is determined by the item's level and type, and the Voxels you use for infusion (more on that in the next section).
Currency Requirements
Voxel Infusion System
Voxel infusion is the most powerful tool for crafting high-quality items. By spending Voxels (maximum 10 per craft), you dramatically increase your chances of crafting Rare, Epic, Legendary, or Artifact Rarity items.
How Voxel Infusion Works
When crafting, you can add 0-10 Voxels to "imbue" the item. Each Voxel significantly improves the odds of obtaining a better Rarity Tier from the craft.
Voxel Impact on Rarity
| Voxels Used | Cost Impact | Effect on Rarity Odds | Best Use Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 Voxels | No extra cost | Standard distribution (50% Common) | Temporary or low-level gear |
| 5 Voxels | +5 Voxels | Significantly better Rare/Epic odds | Mid-tier equipment |
| 10 Voxels | +10 Voxels | Maximized Legendary/Artifact odds | Endgame gear you'll keep long-term |
Item Rarity Tiers
Item Rarity determines the Quality multiplier applied to base stats and the number of Affixes the item can have. There are 8 Rarity Tiers in Idle Adventure, ranging from Broken (worst) to Artifact (best).
Rarity Tier Breakdown
| Rarity | Quality Multiplier Range | Affixes | Base Chance (0 Voxels) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Broken | 0.30x - 0.50x | 0 | 1.2% |
| Poor | 0.60x - 0.80x | 0 | 3.0% |
| Common | 0.90x - 1.10x | 0 | 50.0% |
| Uncommon | 1.16x - 1.28x | 0-1 | 31.2% |
| Rare | 1.30x - 1.45x | 1-2 | 12.5% |
| Epic | 1.50x - 1.68x | 2-3 | 1.8% |
| Legendary | 1.79x - 2.07x | 3 | 0.3% |
| Artifact | 2.35x - 2.70x | 3 | ?? ?% |
Understanding Quality Multipliers
The Quality multiplier directly affects your item's Attack and Armor. For example:
- A weapon with 100 base damage and Common rarity (1.00x) = 100 damage
- The same weapon with Rare rarity (1.40x) = 140 damage
- The same weapon with Legendary rarity (2.00x) = 200 damage
- The same weapon with Artifact rarity (2.60x) = 260 damage
Item Affixes
Item Affixes are bonus stats that roll randomly on equipment based on Rarity. Items can have 0-3 Affixes depending on their Rarity Tier. The same Affix cannot appear twice on one item.
Complete Affix List (Combat Items)
| Affix Name | Effect |
|---|---|
| Critical Strike Rating | Increases critical hit chance |
| Extra Critical Damage % | Multiplies critical hit damage (direct percentage bonus) |
| Extra HP | Adds flat health points to your maximum health |
| HP Boost % | Increases maximum health by a percentage |
| Evasion Rating | Increases dodge chance |
| Accuracy Rating | Increases hit chance |
| Extra Mana | Adds flat mana points to your maximum mana pool |
| Faster Health Regen % | Increases health regeneration speed by a percentage |
| Speed Rating | Increases attack speed |
How Many Affixes Can Items Have?
The number of Affixes rolled depends entirely on item Rarity:
- Broken/Poor/Common: 0 Affixes (no bonus stats)
- Uncommon: 10% chance for 1 Affix
- Rare: 1-2 Affixes (random)
- Epic: 2-3 Affixes (random)
- Legendary: Guaranteed 3 Affixes
- Artifact: Guaranteed 3 Affixes + best Quality rolls
Rating Stats Explained
Items can provide stats as direct bonuses (like "+5% Critical Chance") or as rating values (like "+15 Critical Rating"). Ratings convert to actual stats using your character level.
Converting Rating to Percentages
Critical Chance % = Critical Rating × Rating Multiplier
Example: If you have 200 Critical Rating at level 50, your rating multiplier is approximately 0.275, giving you 200 × 0.275 = 55% critical chance from that rating.
How Rating Scales
The rating multiplier decreases as you level up, meaning the same amount of rating provides less benefit at higher levels. However, higher level items roll higher rating values, maintaining progression balance.
Rating Types
- Critical Rating: Converts to Critical Chance %
- Speed Rating: Converts to Speed % (faster attacks)
- Evasion Rating: Converts to Evasion points (dodge chance)
- Accuracy Rating: Converts to Accuracy points (hit chance)
Mining Stats
Mining equipment works differently from combat gear. Items with mining stats have unique properties that determine how effectively you mine ore veins.
Mining Proficiency
Mining Proficiency determines how well your equipment handles veins of different difficulty. Each vein has a Vein Difficulty value, and your proficiency is compared against it:
- Green (Proficiency ≥ Difficulty): You deal bonus damage (+4% per point above)
- Yellow (Within 5 points): You deal slightly reduced damage
- Red (Proficiency < Difficulty): Damage is heavily reduced (×0.9 per point below)
Mining Proficiency comes from your equipment's base stats. Higher Rarity (Epic and above) grants +1 proficiency per rarity tier above Rare.
Mining Damage
Each swing deals damage based on your mining equipment's Attack stat, modified by proficiency and a random range (80-100% of base power per hit). Attacking a vein without a mining axe means Mining Proficiency is not factored into the damage calculation, resulting in severely reduced damage.
Mining Affixes
Mining equipment has its own set of Affixes, different from combat items:
| Affix Name | Effect | Roll Range |
|---|---|---|
| Critical Strike Chance % | Directly increases critical hit chance while mining | 2.3% - 5.5% |
| Extra Speed % | Directly increases mining speed | 2.3% - 5.5% |
Conclusion
The number of Affixes and the items internal Quality are determined by the random Rarity Tier rolled during crafting. The Rarity Tier is primarily determined by luck, but can be somewhat manipulated through Voxel infusion.
Key Takeaways:
- Use Voxel infusion (5-10 Voxels) when crafting important long-term gear
- Aim for Rare or better in the beginning of your first playthrough. Later go for Epic or Legendary. This way you will have more Pixels to upgrade other more permanent features, like the Autolooter and Progress Bar etc.
- Combine crafting with Item Upgrading, Enchanting, and Item Alteration for maximum power
- Save Voxels for crafting level-appropriate gear you'll keep for extended progression
