Fishing Mini Game Guide – Idle Adventure

Overview

Fishing is a mini game with two phases: throwing and reeling. Master both mechanics to catch valuable fish, treasure, and level up your fishing skill. Build combo points for better rewards and upgrade your fishing rods! multipliers.

Where to Fish: Fishing is unlocked early in the game, and you can find it in the 'Arrow Menu' at the top of the screen!

How to Fish

Throwing Phase

A marker moves across the screen. Release when the marker is on the red line for a Perfect throw! The better your accuracy the less patience you lose, and the higher chance of catching high tier fish or Treasure! There are 7 accuracy levels:

Accuracy levels:

Perfect: Best accuracy - lowest patience cost (2), highest treasure chance
Awesome: Excellent - low patience cost (5), good treasure chance
Great: Good - moderate patience cost (7)
Good: Average - higher patience cost (9)
Ok: Below average - high patience cost (10)
Bad: Poor - very high patience cost (11)
Ouch: Worst - maximum patience cost (12)

Reeling Phase

Keep the fish within the accuracy box by controlling your reel. The fish moves randomly, and you must maintain contact with it!

Patience System

Patience is your fishing resource that depletes with each throw. Run out, and you can't fish again before it regenerates.

Maximum Patience = 40 + (2 × Fishing Level)

Patience regenerates passively over time (+15 per cycle).

Rod of Tranquility: This upgradeable rod has a chance to make throws cost zero patience!

Leveling & Experience

XP Required = (Level + 1)^1.47 × 100

Gain Experience by successfully reeling in fish.

Higher fishing levels increase your maximum patience and improve your chances of catching better fish.

Combo & Perfect Streak

Combo System

Build combos by landing Awesome or Perfect throws. Only Perfect throws increase the combo significantly (+3), while Awesome gives +1. Any other accuracy breaks your combo.

Perfect Streak

Track consecutive Perfect throws separately. This streak only increases with Perfect accuracy and provides additional bonuses to treasure chances. Your best streak is saved!

Fish Types

There are three categories of catches, each with different purposes:

Regular Fish

Various fish species that provide Pixels, Experience, and fish weight. Better accuracy and higher combos increase your chances of catching rare fish species.

Fish Weight Uses: Accumulated fish weight can be spent to purchase:

Experimental Mixture - A consumable with random beneficial or debuff effects
Pet Food - Feed to pets for instant XP boosts

Junk

Boots, trash, and other unwanted catches. Easier to get with poor throws. Still provides some rewards but less valuable than fish.

Treasure

The most valuable catches! Treasure has a higher chance with Perfect and Awesome throws, especially with high combos:

Copper Treasure: A good amount of Pixels
Silver Treasure: A large amount of Pixels
Gold Treasure: A huge amount of Pixels
Crystal Treasure: Many Crystals
Voxel Treasure: Large Voxel amounts
Small Chest: Can contain high-value rewards!

Treasure Chances: Perfect throws have the best treasure chance, followed by Awesome. Combo multipliers significantly increase these odds!

Fishing Rods

Seven rods can be upgraded in the fishing shop, each with unique effects:

Upgrade Costs: Rod upgrades require Pixels, fish, Voxels, Crystals, or Gems depending on the rod. Costs increase substantially at higher levels.

Strategy Tips

Perfect Throws: They use the least patience, build combos fastest, and have the best treasure chances
Upgrade Rod of Tranquility Early: Free throws save patience and let you fish much longer
Build High Combos: Combo modifiers dramatically improve treasure chances and fish quality
Golden Rod: If you're hunting treasures, upgrade the Golden Rod for massive treasure boosts
Great Rod: Slower fish movement makes Perfect Reels much easier to achieve

How do combos work in fishing?

What's the difference between fish types?

Great: 7 patience
Good: 9 patience
Ok: 10 patience
Bad: 11 patience
Ouch: 12 patience (worst)

Should I focus on Perfect throws or just fish quickly?

Always aim for Perfect throws! They provide multiple benefits:

Use the least patience (2 vs up to 12)
Build combos fastest (+3 per Perfect vs +1 for Awesome)
Highest treasure chances
Best fish quality
Most efficient XP gain per patience spent

Fishing quickly with poor accuracy wastes patience and yields worse rewards. Take your time to land Perfect throws consistently for maximum efficiency.

I hate fishing... what can I do?

You're not alone! The developer himself (Zymosis) isn't exactly a fan of this feature either. 😄 The good news is that fishing is completely optional - you can progress through the game without ever touching a fishing rod. If you absolutely must fish (like for that infamous +10 perfect streak pet), upgrade Precise Rod first to make Perfect throws easier and get it over with as quickly as possible.
