How Skills Work

Skills are combat abilities that define your fighting style in Idle Adventure. Understanding how to build and optimize your skill loadout is crucial for progression.

Changing Your Loadout

You can change your skill loadout outside of combat to adapt to different challenges. Experiment with different combinations for different areas and bosses.

Skill Mechanics

Each skill has unique properties that determine how it performs in combat:

⚡ Speed

Attack speed multiplier. Lower values = faster attacks. Quick Attack has 0.8 speed (25% faster), Heavy Attack has 1.4 speed (40% slower).

💥 Damage Modifier

Increases or decreases base damage. Heavy Attack has +145% damage, making it hit much harder than normal attacks.

🎯 Crit Chance & Damage

Skills can add crit chance and crit damage bonuses. Execute has +10% crit chance and +50% crit damage.

💧 Mana Cost

Most skills consume mana. Quick Attack costs only 3 mana, while powerful skills like Cleave cost 35 mana.

⏱️ Cooldown

Time before a skill can be used again. Powerful skills have longer cooldowns (e.g., Shield has 20s cooldown).

❤️ Health Cost

Some skills like Sacrifice consume health instead of or in addition to mana, offering high risk and high reward.

Advanced Mechanics

Some skills have special mechanics that are useful in various situations:

⚡ Execute

The Execute skill deals bonus damage to low-HP enemies. When an enemy drops below 30% HP, Execute's damage multiplier activates, making it perfect for finishing off tough bosses.

🌊 Cleave

The Cleave skill damages multiple enemies in an area. For ranged weapons, projectiles pierce through enemies. Perfect for clearing groups.

⚡ Charge System

Some skills build or consume charges:

Strategy: Use Charged Strike to build up power, then unleash Static Discharge when charges are high. The Shock debuff amplifies all subsequent damage.

🩸 Low Health Scaling

Skills like Vengeance deal more damage when your HP is low. The lower your health, the higher the damage multiplier. High risk, high reward!

FAQ

How many skills can I equip at once?
You can equip 4 skills of your choice plus the Heal spell (which is always available), giving you 5 total abilities in combat. Change your loadout outside of combat to adapt to different challenges.
Can I change skills during combat?
No, you can only change your skill loadout outside of combat. Plan your loadout carefully before engaging tough enemies or bosses.
What skills should I use as a beginner?
Start with Quick Attack (fast, low mana cost) and Auto Attack (hands-free fighting). As you level up, add Heavy Attack (Level 55) for burst damage and Poison Attack (Level 70) to weaken tanky enemies. This gives you a balanced early-game loadout.
What is the Execute mechanic?
The Execute skill deals bonus damage to enemies below 30% HP. When an enemy's health drops to this threshold, Execute's damage multiplier activates, making it excellent for finishing off tough bosses or high-HP enemies quickly.
What is the Charge system?
The Charge system allows you to build up power over time. Use Charged Strike to generate charges, then consume them with Static Discharge for massive damage. Static Discharge also applies the Shock debuff, making enemies take extra damage for a duration.
What are skill effects?
Skill effects are special properties that change combat mechanics. Common effects include Poison (reduce enemy HP regen), Life Steal (heal from damage), Armor Break (reduce enemy armor), Bleed (damage over time), and Shock (enemy takes bonus damage). Many skills can have multiple effects active simultaneously.
What's the difference between Offensive and Debuff skills?
Offensive skills focus on dealing direct damage (Quick Attack, Heavy Attack, Cleave), while Debuff skills weaken enemies by reducing their stats (Poison Attack reduces HP regen, Break Armor reduces defense). Many skills like Execute belong to both categories.
