What is Ascension?

Ascension is a prestige system that allows you to reset your character's level and progress in exchange for powerful permanent bonuses. Normal ascensions also grant Dream Points which unlock powerful Ascension Perks. Each ascension makes you stronger and unlocks new progression systems.

Ascension Requirements

  • Level Requirement: Must be level 301
  • No Locked Items: Must have no items in ascension-locked inventory
  • No Locked Currencies: All locked Pixels, Voxels, and Crystals must be redeemed

Ascension Types

There are three types of ascensions, each with different difficulty levels and rewards.

  • You KEEP: All items, currencies, pets, talents, guild progress
  • First completion unlocks the Dream Point system

Hard Ascension (Medium)

Hardcore Ascension (Extreme)

What Happens:

  • Same as Hard Ascension
  • PERMADEATH: If you die, the ascension fails and converts to Normal
  • Most challenging ascension type
  • Higher enemy difficulty than Hard mode
Warning: In Hardcore mode, dying will fail your ascension! You lose the permanent stat bonus reward and your ascension converts to Normal mode. All locked items are restored, but you lose the prestige of completing Hardcore.

Ascension Difficulty Comparison

Each ascension type modifies enemy difficulty and player restrictions.

Modifier Normal Hard Hardcore
XP Penalty 100% (none) 50% 50%
Enemy HP 100% 150% 185%
Enemy Damage 100% 215% 320%
Enemy Magic Damage 100% 150% 175%
Player HP from Rank 100% (10 + level) / 500 (10 + level) / 620
Items Locked No Yes Yes
Offline Rewards Enabled Disabled Disabled
Death Penalty Normal Normal Fails ascension

HP Penalty Examples (Hard Mode)

  • Level 1: (10+1)/500 = 2.2% of normal HP from rank
  • Level 50: (10+50)/500 = 12% of normal HP from rank
  • Level 150: (10+150)/500 = 32% of normal HP from rank
  • Level 301: (10+301)/500 = 62.2% of normal HP from rank
Note: The HP penalty only affects HP gained from ranks. HP from items, talents, and other sources is unaffected (but items are locked during Hard/Hardcore runs).

Permanent Ascension Bonuses

Each ascension type provides passive bonuses that are always active, even after completion. These bonuses have a maximum number of times they can be earned. These are SEPARATE from Dream Points - Normal ascensions give both bonuses AND Dream Points, while Hard/Hardcore only give bonuses.

Normal Ascension Bonuses (Max 5)

  • +15 base HP per completion
  • +1% damage per completion
  • +3% XP gain (level & rank) per completion
  • +3% loot drop chance per completion

Hard Ascension Bonuses (Max 3)

  • +20 base HP per completion
  • +1.5% damage per completion
  • +4% XP gain (level & rank) per completion

Hardcore Ascension Bonuses (Max 1)

  • +5% XP gain (level & rank)
  • +5% loot drop chance

Maximum Possible Bonuses

If you complete all ascensions to their caps:

HP: (15×5) + (20×3) + (50×1) = +185 base HP
Damage: (1%×5) + (1.5%×3) + (5%×1) = +14.5%
XP: (3%×5) + (4%×3) + (5%×1) = +32%
Loot: (3%×5) + (3%×3) + (5%×1) = +29%

Dream Points & Ascension Perks

Dream Points are special currency earned from completing Normal Ascensions. You can spend them to unlock powerful permanent upgrades called Ascension Perks.

Earning Dream Points

  • Normal Ascension: 1 Dream Point per completion (unlimited)
  • Hard Ascension: NO Dream Points (only permanent stat bonuses)
  • Hardcore Ascension: NO Dream Points (only permanent stat bonuses)
Important: Only Normal Ascensions grant Dream Points for unlocking Ascension Perks! Hard and Hardcore ascensions provide powerful permanent stat bonuses instead, but do not give Dream Points.
Strategy Tip: If you need more Dream Points to unlock Ascension Perks, complete Normal ascensions. If you want stronger permanent bonuses, tackle Hard and Hardcore ascensions (which are much more challenging).

Hardcore Ascension Rules

Hardcore mode is the ultimate test of skill and patience, featuring permadeath and the harshest difficulty modifiers.

Special Rules

  • Permadeath: One death and you fail the ascension
  • Enemy HP: 185% of normal (highest of all modes)
  • Enemy Damage: 320% of normal (highest of all modes)
  • Extreme HP Penalty: Your HP from rank is drastically reduced early game
  • No Offline Rewards: Must play actively
  • No VIP Chests: Premium shortcuts disabled
  • All Items Locked: Start completely naked with no equipment

Failing Hardcore

When you die during a Hardcore Ascension:

  • Ascension immediately converts to Normal Ascension
  • All locked items and currencies are restored
  • You do NOT receive the permanent stat bonus reward
  • Progress toward Hardcore completion is lost
Strategy Tip: Hardcore is extremely challenging in the early levels (1-50) due to the HP penalty. Consider grinding levels carefully and avoiding risky situations until you've regained enough HP from leveling.

Resigning from Ascension

You can give up a Hard or Hardcore Ascension at any time.

What Happens When You Resign

  • Converts to Normal Ascension immediately
  • All locked items and currencies are restored
  • Offline rewards and VIP chests re-enabled
  • You do NOT receive the permanent stat bonus reward

Resigning is useful if you started a Hard/Hardcore run but realize you're not ready for the challenge. You keep your progress but lose the prestigious rewards.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I do my first ascension?
Complete your first Normal Ascension once you reach level 301 and have cleared any ascension-locked items or currencies. Your first ascension unlocks the Dream Point system, which provides permanent upgrades that significantly improve future runs. The permanent bonuses (+15 HP, +1% damage, +3% XP, +3% loot) make subsequent playthroughs much faster.
Which ascension type should I choose?
Start with Normal ascensions to build up Dream Points and earn permanent bonuses (max 5 completions). Once comfortable with progression, attempt Hard ascensions for stronger bonuses (max 3 completions). Save Hardcore for when you're experienced and ready for the permadeath challenge (max 1 completion). Normal ascensions are the only way to earn Dream Points for Ascension Perks.
Can I get Dream Points from Hard or Hardcore ascensions?
No. Only Normal ascensions grant Dream Points (1 per completion, unlimited). Hard and Hardcore ascensions provide permanent stat bonuses instead, which are more powerful but limited in quantity. If you need more Dream Points to unlock Ascension Perks, you must complete additional Normal ascensions.
What happens to my items during ascensions?
Normal ascensions: You keep all items, currencies, pets, talents, and guild progress. Only your level and area unlocks reset.

Hard/Hardcore ascensions: All equipment, inventory, transmog, Pixels, Voxels, and Crystals are locked away until completion or resignation. You must progress through the game without your existing gear, forcing you to re-earn items from scratch. Everything is restored upon completion or resignation.
Should I max Normal ascensions before trying Hard?
It's recommended to complete several Normal ascensions first to build up Dream Points and permanent bonuses. This makes Hard ascensions more manageable. However, you don't need to max all 5 Normal completions before attempting Hard. Completing 2-3 Normal runs and unlocking key Ascension Perks (like QuickLearner or BattleBrainy) provides a good foundation for tackling Hard mode.
